| Generating flexibility
in a prescriptive organisation A recently appointed director, with many years of working for a very prescriptive NHS, had to handle some dramatic changes with the restructuring of the service through the merger of three organisations. As a result of coaching with Amicas, she challenged herself to behave more flexibly. Rather than referring to precedents, the director took an innovative approach to preparing her staff for the transition. As part of the preparation for merger, she facilitated individuals and teams to produce a history of their successes, and to publicise these to the local community and other organisations. As a result, morale was higher, and her staff were ready to take control of the impression they created on the incoming CEO and Chair, putting them in strong positions to achieve the posts they wanted in the new organisation. |
